Tamaki Obuchi,
 lives in Kokura, Kitakyushu City, the south side of Japan, Kyushu island. She studied history of art and Japanese painting in Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.
When she was very young her father, an amateur photographer, taught her how to take photograph. She was interested in it , and bought a cheap half frame camera by herself. However, she became enthusiasm about painting after entered a junior high. While she was in the university she joined a photo club, but she was a very lazy member. She had a chance to see Imogen Cunningham's work in 1991. Her photographs impressed her so deeply. Her works opened her eyes. They showed her that photograph is a fine art. So she began to take photograph again.
